A bit of history

There are a few books in our library that provide interesting reading.

Fuel

In the winter months its really important to fill up with Alpine Diesel Fuel so you don’t have dramas starting your car.  The service station in Adaminaby on the Snowy Mountains highway Cooma side stocks Alpine Fuel.

Creature Comforts

Got a favourite pillow? Bring your own if you want but there are plenty of pillows.

Want to be absolutely  sure  that in the winter you’ll be warm?

There’s a pretty good supply of doonas in the place and electric blankets on the bed, 2 heaters are available and 2 reverse cycle units for your comfort.

You might want to think about bringing pajamas and slippers.

Drinking water

The local tap water is suitable for drinking.

Entertainment

In-house

We have  2 TV,s with DVD players and a CD player. There is a media plug for your computer so download anything you want before you come to listen to.

There are playing cards and a few other games.

There is a good library in the Loft for your enjoyment.

Club and Pub

The Adaminaby Bowling and Sports club is a quite pleasant place to relax with a Bistro, check operating days and times.

The Snow Goose Hotel  is a pub with good grub including regular activities, raffles on Thursday and Friday nights and other activities during the week.

Stores

General Store

The General Store is open between 8.30 am and 6 pm weekdays. Check the notice board out the front for any variation.

It has a range of everything from socks to saws and they provide fruit, veg,

and meat from the Nimmitabel butchery at Cooma prices.

EFTPOS and ATM CASH OUT Available.

There is a post office in the general store as well, very handy.

Baker

Linda runs this store, some quality delights. Good pies etc.

Getting Here

Local Airstrip

By Road

From Canberra- through the Namadgi National Park-60km shorter than via Cooma but only saves about 15 minutes,  a lovely drive-check road conditions before your trip and  keep a look out in particular the wildlife.

Whats Near?

Fishing

There is  bait and tackle available at the Ampol and Shell service stations.

4 Wheel Driving

Plenty of it. Some roads and tracks closed for winter.

We have a detailed map displayed in the loft of all the tracks open and closed.

Horse Riding

Several resorts and backyard opportunities.

Snow

Mt Selwyn, only 45 kms, or about 30 minutes depending on weather conditions.

Depending on the age of your family tobogganing can provide more than enough fun and exercise. Best spots are around Kiandra.

Thredbo and perisher are about 115km

Sight Seeing

Old Adaminaby, Anglers Reach, Tantangra Dam, Yarrangabilly Caves including thermal pool, Blowering Dam, Talbingo Dam, Tumut, Cabramura, Elliot way, T2 power station, O’Hares  camping ground, Tumbarumba. Refer to details map available in the Loft for more loctions you may be interested in .
